Backpacking Meals Recalled, Bacteria Threat

Backpacker’s Pantry and Alpineaire meals are included in the recall issued by Tip Top Poultry on September 28th which has been expanded after the affected chicken was found in additional products.

These products have been distributed in the USA and Canada.

Look for “Est. P-17453” inside the USDA mark of inspection, on any products containing cooked, diced, or shredded chicken purchased from February 2019 onward with product codes ranging from 10000 to 19999 and 70000 to 79999.

The USDA has released several lists of the stores and products. Customers are instructed to dispose of or return recalled products to the store.

The bacteria Listeria monocytogenes is a leading cause of hospitalization and death from foodborne illness, according to the FDA, especially in industrialized and high income countries.
